Baubles and bubbles for our big December winners

The run up to Christmas is always an exciting time as gifts start piling up underneath the tree. But imagine just how festive our December winners felt when they ‘unwrapped’ a big National Lottery prize.

For the 28 players who became National Lottery millionaires in December, 2021, it must have been a very merry Christmas indeed.

Lotto made a total of 7 millionaires in December. We met Terry Kennedy, a builder from Barnsley, who banked £1Million on a very lucky Lotto Lucky Dip. Terry, 28, and his partner Kay, 25, are usually EuroMillions players, but they decided to grab a Lotto ticket when they visited a local shop on a Saturday. A video of the amazing moment Terry learned he’d won £1Million went viral and you can see it here.

Winter wins don’t get more Christmassy than the prize scooped by Paul McDonald from Bexhill. He discovered he’d become a Lotto millionaire after keeping a promise to his youngest daughter to decorate the house with Christmas lights. Read about his whopping £1,063,516 win.

Meanwhile, EuroMillions caught the festive spirit by creating 18 new UK millionaires in December. And a very lucky Set For Life player scored a top prize of £10,000 a month for 30 years.

Thunderball rumbled into action with 2 top prize winners each landing an amazing £500,000.

Meanwhile, Instant Win Games delivered plenty of festive fun as a lucky player won £100,000 and 2 more won £300,000 each.

We met Kent wordsmiths Louisa Tomlinson, 57, and her 62-year-old husband Greg, who won the £300,000 top prize on a Scrabble Cashword Scratchcard. Read about how they swept the board.

Meanwhile, another Scratchcard had a Scottish grandmother feeling ‘wheely’ great after she won £30,000 and a brand new BMW X2 car. Hannah Dewar – known to family and friends as ‘Val’ – bought the Cars & Cash National Lottery Scratchcard to cheer herself up after a visit to the dentist. Read the ‘tooth’ about her amazing win.
