Players have a ball in May as 29 become millionaires

May felt a little chillier than usual, but things were running hot at The National Lottery as 29 lucky players became May millionaires.

Lotto continued to deliver some amazing wins, creating 10 new millionaires. We met one of them – Di Foster, a 62-year-old grandmother from Reading – who scooped £1,049,669 on Lotto. Di was still getting used to the idea of being a millionaire when she was handed a shopping list by her cheeky 7-year-old grandson. Read Di's heartwarming story here.

EuroMillions also produced some big wins in May with a total of 8 UK players becoming millionaires thanks to the EuroMillions Millionaire Maker raffle.

There was plenty of Set For Life action too, with 2 players winning the amazing top prize of £10,000 a month for 30 years.

We met Cheryl Crowley, a 45-year-old primary school teacher from the London suburb of Brent, who scooped a fantastic prize of £10Thousand a month for 1 year in the Set For Life draw on 6th May. The winning ticket was given to her inside a birthday card by her 27-year-old daughter Jade. Read all about Cheryl’s big birthday win here.

Thunderball continued to rumble in May with 2 players each winning a top prize of £500,000.

And there was plenty of action on the Instant Win Game front with 4 players winning prizes of £100,000 or more. 2 of our lucky Instant Win Game winners scored a massive £1Million each.

Last, but by no means least, it was a fantastic month for Scratchcards. May delivered 12 high tier winners (prizes of £50,000 or more) and 7 of them scratched off a stunning prize of £1Million each.

We met ‘Lucky’ Luke Ashman, a security guard from Dudley in the West Midlands, who reckons he “won twice on the same day” after landing the top prize on a National Lottery Scratchcard then going on a first date with his girlfriend. You can read all about 22-year-old Luke’s £250,000 win (and his first date) here.
